Question From Jeannie :

My pond is in the sun all day. It is about 2500 gallons. I have tried barley straw, aqua clearer (liquid and powder form)and algaeside. Nothing will clear my water. It has a green tinge and you cannot see to the bottom. I have Koi and some plants. Lily pad and iris. I have muck vac'd it, and done water changes. I do have river rock in the bottom and large rocks along the side. What can I do to clear my pond. I use an underwater pump and external filter system.I am cleaning the filter system out about once every week, week in a half. I have a small waterfall.

Professor Pond's Response:

Adding bacteria periodically to a water feature is one of the most important things you can do to maintain clear, healthy water. With the summer approaching fast, add EcoSystems AquaClearer Extreme to spike it periodically, and in the fall to maintain it. EcoSystems AquaClearer Extreme is all natural, not chemical! It is safe for fish and plants. AquaClearer Extreme Dry contains bacteria and enzymes that are scientifically blended and tested to produce maximum results in ornamental ponds. AquaClearer Dry Extreme contains specific beneficial microbes and enzymes hat are effective at reducing sludge, uneaten fish food, fish waste, and excess nutrients that cause poor water quality and clarity. Keeps your water clear, your fish healthy, and your pond beautiful Safe for fish and plants.

There is also a liquid bacteria version. AquaClearer Extreme Liquid bacteria is scientifically blended and tested to produce maximum results in ornamental ponds. AquaClearer Extreme liquid contains specific beneficial microbes that are effective at reducing ammonia, nitrites and excess nutrients that would otherwise cause poor water quality and clarity. Think of your AquaClearer Extreme microbes as your continuous live-in pond clean-up crew. Keeps your water clear, your fish healthy, and your pond beautiful Seeds biological filters. Naturally reduces ammonia and excess nutrients that cause poor water quality and is safe for fish and plants. When adding this, at first do it everyday for 14 days, then every week 1-2 times.
